So tonight is our last night in Penang unfortunately, onwards and upwards tomorrow as we continue north to Langkawi. We've really enjoyed Penang, we do seem to say that about everywhere we go however...maybe I ought to get a thesaurus for my kindle...
We've wandered Georgetown, where our oddly white guesthouse is, and today we got the bus to Penang Hill. It may disappoint some people (mum and dad) to know, but we did in fact NOT walk up the 700m hill, as the thermometer was well over 30, and it was far, far too hot! The train was great though, SO steep. The views from the top were spectacular, and there was a lovely breeze too which was great! We could see all the way over the bridge to mainland Malaysia and all across Penang, very pretty.
The people here are so friendly, and nobody is content in knowing we're from England, they have to know where exactly, to which someone has taken to saying 'Manchester' which I don't appreciate! Everyone's heard of Liverpool! We were relaxing on some large steps with an ice cream and some water, chilling with the breeze, admiring the view, when a friendly family came over and wanted a photo taken with us! So beware, you may well see the worst photo of me ever circling the internet with a very happy looking Malaysian family...!
We ended up eating in a little Indian place (I don't seem to be able to call it 'restaurant'!) 2 nights on a row, as it was amazing food. Main meals, naan bread, roti, drinks...£5 I wish it was so cheap back home! We're genuinely quite sad that we're not able to go back there again!
So, on to Langkawi we go, the next step in our trip, so it's time to pack our bags, plaster up our feet (which aren't quite used to the new flip flops bought in Melaka) and hope that our next place has a laundry shop nearby (sorry Elaine, there are no rivers nearby to wash stuff in, sea alone in our next stop...)
I WAS going to put a couple of lovely photos on, my sd card is in the netbook, and for some annoying reason, it isn't reading it (though it did the other day!), one of these days we'll see a photo! But look on my facebook, as we've put on a selection of our Singapore photos
p.s. Abby, I haven't used any of your present yet!
